Darin Undergoes Emergency Neck Surgery!

On May 29th 2020, Darin underwent cervical spine surgery due to severe weakness, loss of coordination and numbness in his arms, hands, legs and feet. These symptoms came on very quickly, starting with tingling in Darin’s left index finger and within a month he was unable to play guitar or walk unassisted. An MRI showed massive degeneration of cervical discs C1 and C2, as well as bulging of C5 and C6.

Following the surgery, Darin was moved to a medical physical rehabilitation center where he spent two weeks working hard to regain his strength and coordination. It was quite an ordeal, leaving Darin unable to walk without assistance and unable to play guitar for some time.

After many months of physical therapy, Darin has worked his way back to playing and gigging again. His still suffers from regular pain and stiffness and must wear compression sleeves on his knees in order to walk, but he is thrilled to be playing again. He has a steady supply of instant ice packs coming from Amazon for use on his neck during rehearsals and between sets on gigs but like the old showbiz adage goes, "It's better to look good than to feel good!"

A very special thanks to all of you who have sent well wishes.

What is Darin up to these days?

Darin has recently joined Boston's new Cars tribute band, Panorama. The group performs all of The Cars greatest hits and deep cuts. You can check out Panorama HERE.

Darin is also currently writing and recording, and is also putting together a band that will cover the full range of British Invasion music. He is also performing acoustic shows in the Greater Boston area, in solo and duo form.

A special note from Darin!

I'd like to personally thank everyone for being here. For those of you unaware, upon moving back from Las Vegas about 5 years ago, I came down with a debilitating bone infection in my upper and lower jaws. I was quite ill and was forced to undergo a complete dental reconstruction that took four years. It was downright medieval! The good news is that it's over and I am now, thankfully, back in action and able to rejoin my career (already in progress).
During the whole ordeal, I was unable to sing, perform or partake in any kind of truly career oriented activities at all. About the only good thing I was able to do music-wise, was get my guitar chops back in shape, as I didn't play much guitar in the many years I was exclusively singing the Great American Songbook.
Now that I'm back, I will be revisiting my roots... Rock "N Roll! I shall still be performing Standards, but will also be out there slinging a guitar again, singing both my own material, but also doing some fun acoustic duo gigs, singing lots of Beatles and other timeless favorites. There's also a huge plan in action that will marry my two loves - Standards and Rock "n Roll, but that's still under wraps! More on that soon! In the meantime, please stay tuned and check here for upcoming additions to my calendar. I look forward to seeing both new and familiar faces as I eagerly get back to a full gigging schedule.
See you out there!

All my best,
Darin
